Whitaker

Hey guys, I'm gonna be a little bit occupied this week! To everyones dismay... the mid-term break is over, and I was greeted back to school with a surge of homework assignments. Regrettably, I didn't prepare any posts for me to easily click 'publish' on when my blog looks a little... dead. So if the sky clears up and I have some extra time, I'll be sure to write up something!

But for now, I'll leave you with a song that's been on my mind this past week, and I hope you're all hastily creating some outrageously-awesome halloween costume!

Apologies for the grainy quality (and the occasional lazy eye), this was taken with my friends iPhone, that for reasons unknown makes me look like an Oompa Loompa and alas my editing skills are to no avail since they're non-existant anyways. This was taken in Seoul, on the last day when we went for some last-minute shopping in Myeongdong! My friend and I were a little dismayed because this district wasn't as unique as the others we went to, so there was barely anything that caught our eye, however [commencing funny story] just when we've thought we've seen all there was to see, we walk past an alleyway that had the familiar words "American Apparel" peeping out of a corner, which was followed by a unanimous aggressive exclamation of the stores name and a sprint to the store doors. By the time we were amongst the racks of clothes, we were gasping for air from laughing too hard after realizing how we reacted, but hey! gotta love AA.

Peace and love~

throwback thursday

So this week marks the one-year anniversary of a very unimaginable encounter, which left me starstruck and senseless - meeting Francisco Lachowski. The jaw-dropping effect I was going for probably won't work if you have no clue who I'm talking about, therefore cue the crash course! Francisco Lachowski is merely a male model, however an extremely attractive male model and probably one of the most 'tumblr-ed' faces. Hailing from Brazil, he is a concoction of Portuguese, German, and Polish. Lachowski was discovered through the modeling contest Supermodel of the World   and since then has been signed to Ford and other modeling agencies. You can stalk him more here. but I think that's enough of me sounding like an encyclopedia, just to finish off here's some photos of him.

Back to my incredulous encounter: I was on a service trip to Bali with my school around this time last year, and when we were at the airport on the last day, my friend (who funnily enough I've gushed about Francisco with on the trip and share an admiration over how well he pulls off the 'shirtless' look) looks over to her side, and spots a tumblr-familiar face walking over, and shouts, "Beat! It's Francisco!" Sure enough, lo and behold there is Francisco! Like many hormonal teenage girls, I turned into a bug-eyed fangirl and leaped over luggages to take a picture with him and stuttered over words of "hi ohmygosh". Unfortunately, the photo turned out horrible, but surprise again, he was on the same flight as us to Hong Kong, en route to London! On the plane, my friend and I even tried to sneak a peek in business class to see if we could get another photo, but turns out he was sitting a couple of rows behind us in coach, so luckily we could get another (better) photo with him and met his girlfriend, Jessiann. Just to add a cute little detail - I walked by later on and saw him chuckling at Modern Family (that cutie).

Francisco + Jessiann, and me... looking terribly awkward.
And that's my story! Yay for throwback Thursdays and Francisco Lachowski!

Shirt - Mens Uniqlo (DIY cut)
Skirt - Topshop
Necklace - Forever 21
Boots - Office

Over the summer, I grew a strange addiction for cutting the sleeves off shirts, which also resulted in me following my brothers into the mens section of Uniqlo and hoarding up on oversized tees - I can't help it, they're so comfortable! Speaking of cutting, if you are a new reader and have never ever in your entire existence seen a picture of me, you may not realize this but... I got bangs! I can't remember the last time I had bangs like this... pre-school maybe? It's so strange, my parents think I look like a Korean doll now and my friend couldn't recognize me the other day, resulting in him walking in circles around the coffee shop, whilst I sat laughing in my chair (right in front of him) watching him look like a lost child. I guess the hair helps me blend in more, helping me look more 'wallflower' than ever.

i got SEOUL

Ok, maybe my awkward attempt at puns is turning into a bad habit. BUT I will be on a week-long hiatus (not that it'll make much of a difference to my lack of posting) as I will be going to South Korea for the first time! I'm extremely excited as my friends know I have an infatuation for all things K-pop and Korean cuisine; I went through a serious phase of K-pop-obsession-disorder, and unfortunately still am a dedicated fangirl for some bands... let's just say old habits die hard.

(images via Google image search)

I can't wait to visit this bustling city, and indulge in some kimchee and bulgogi. Wish me luck that I'll bump into some K-pop idols ;) Hopefully I'll come back with some cool souvenirs and nice snaps of my trip that I can share with y'all!

Have a great week everyone!

my hair lady

Please excuse my pathetic attempt at a pun using My Fair Lady, but hopefully you'll be able to deduce that this post is about... (drumroll please) HAIR! Like many of you fine ladies out there, I get bored of my hair style easily. We all want hair we don't have and that is a common truth, girls with beautiful curls want pin straight hair and vice versa. A vicious cycle, I know. Over the summer I tried something new and mildly daring - I bleached the back layer of my hair and dyed it purple after being tempted by all the candy-colored hair flooding my dashboard on Tumblr. But the summer is gone and fall is nestling in comfortably, and I'm frankly kinda bored with this bleached patch of hair... now I'm considering shaving a small side section of my head OR leaning towards a more conservative look, long thick bangs. What do you think?

Turtle neck crop top - DIY
Dungarees - Thrifted from Rokit (London)
High top wedges - River Island

Note to the title: No, my name's not Carlo, it's just the first line in a song that's made it way to becoming my phone ring tone (Hi Kids - Cro). But I thought the "hi kids" line is strangely apt for this outfit with the denim dungarees and 90's cropped turtle neck, radiating a childish vibe with the touch of my high kicks and "hipster" glasses. To be honest, I really don't like wearing my glasses out too often, they feel like an obstruction on my face and I suddenly become 10x more clumsy because I always think they're falling off so... three cheers for contact lenses! However today was an exception because I thought I'd spare my eyes from contacts for the day. I've also been wearing these high kicks tons to school, because it gives me a subtle boost of height (they're actually wedges) and they're surprisingly pretty dang comfortable to run from class to class in! And hey, I can't help but gloat in the occasional question of, "Did you get taller?"

Hope you're all having a wonderful day!
